Exclusive: Ander Herrera and Marco Verratti accuse referee Bjorn Kuipers of telling PSG players to ‘f*** off’ during Man City defeat

PSG midfielders Ander Herrera and Marco Verratti have both accused referee Bjorn Kuipers of swearing at the French side as they went crashing out of the Champions League to Man City in a 4-1 aggregate defeat.

The Ligue 1 side finished the game, which ended 2-0 to City on the night, with ten men after Angel Di Maria’s mindless stamp on Fernandinho, and the visitors confronted the referee on numerous occasions as the match turned sour.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side appeared to be losing their heads in defeat to an outstanding City, but the players insist they were provoked by Kuipers.

Herrera, the former Man United midfielder, said after the match: “The referee tonight said f**k off to Leandro Paredes.

“If we say that we get a 3 or 4 match ban.”

And Verratti, the Italy midfielder, echoed those claims. He said: “The referee also told me ‘f*** you’ twice.

“For them it’s normal, if you say that it’s ten matches [ban]. I talk a lot to the referee but I don’t say that.”

PSG players swarmed Kuipers after the Dutch ref produced a straight red card to Di Maria for lashing out against Fernandinho in the 69th minute.

According to former City winger Sinclair, the visitors could have no complaints.

He said: “No discipline. He’s let his teammates down. He’s let his the football club down. He’s let the owners down.

Di Maria left the referee with no choice

“I’m not sure what Pochettino is doing there, but before he stamped on him, Di Maria put his hand up.

“He’s lost his head. He shouldn’t have done that and it’s been witnessed by everyone at the stadium.

“It’s frustration. This is what Fernandinho does. He winds up opposition players and gets them at it.

“That’s exactly what he’s done and that’s why he’s in the team.”
