Exclusive: Anderson Silva knocks fellow UFC legend Tito Ortiz out cold in the first round with ‘KO of the Year’ contender

Anderson Silva made light work of Tito Ortiz in the co-main event of Triller’s card of Saturday night.

The Brazilian, who is a former UFC middleweight champion and one of the all-time greats, knocked Ortiz out cold in the very first round with a devastating right hook.

Ortiz, a former UFC light-heavyweight champion himself, came out swinging and stood right in front of Silva as he attempted to make his mark.

Silva just used his head movement to evade Ortiz’s strikes. Once Ortiz backed Silva up into a corner, he tried to unload hooks but failed to land anything significant.

The Spider, who defeated former world champion Julio César Chávez Jr. last time out and has been dedicating himself to boxing, rose up and landed a savage right hook to the temple and Ortiz was out on his feet before a couple more shots made him hit the canvas hard.

Both men are UFC Hall of Fame calibre talents, but in a boxing ring, Silva was way ahead of Ortiz from the get-go.

Ortiz had to shed 40lbs just to get the fight on in the first place. Originally Silva wanted Ortiz to fight him at 195lbs, but Ortiz would weigh-in at 200lbs, and he still had a 7lb advantage at the weigh-in.

When Ortiz was laying on the canvas, Silva didn’t celebrate at all. The 46 year old was more worried about Ortiz than anything else.

After the victory, Silva was interviewed in the ring and remained humble. When the interviewer asked: “We haven’t seen the last of you, have we?” Silva responded with a wry smile “Probably.”

The whole event ranged from strange to hard to watch. David Haye won an easy fight in the opener as he won all eight rounds against his friend, Joe Fournier.

Then, in the main event, Evander Holyfield was put away inside a round against another UFC Hall of Fame talent, Vitor Belfort.

While Ortiz won’t be in a rush to get in a boxing ring again, Silva looks like he has many options ahead of him coming off such a vicious knockout.
