Exclusive: Conor McGregor picks up fully customised Lamborghini ‘superboat’ yacht worth £2.5million in wake of Dustin Poirier defeat

Conor McGregor has found some solace in his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in the form of a new £2.5million yacht.

That’s one way to soften the blow of a defeat that many are saying could end his fighting career.

The Notorious suffered a broken leg during his loss to Poirier in their third meeting and he has been recuperating in California.

But now he has picked up a seven-figure Lamborghini yacht which is sure to sail away some of his blues.

The Technomar ‘superboat’ is a limited edition creation. It has a 4,000 horsepower engine and can effortlessly reach 69 mph on the water.

It’s custom fitted with kitchen appliances, a dining area, a bedroom and bathroom underneath, plus much more… as you’d expect, for the price.

McGregor was said to have netted £3.61m from his loss to Poirier, more than five times what the victor secured.

He still has a good chunk of change left over after buying his new toy.

Of course, that’s just what he will have earned from UFC, too. When you factor in endorsements, sponsors and everything else, McGregor will have netted dozens of millions.

The Irishman, took home £80m for 40 seconds of work against Donald Cerrone in January 2020.

Incredibly, a £2.5m yacht is a drop in the ocean for McGregor. The 33-year-old topped Forbes’ highest-paid sportsmen list back in May with a reported haul of $180m.

It’s believed UFC’s first-ever double champion made $158m outside of his fighting career over the 12 months Forbes considered, becoming only the third athlete, after Roger Federer and Tiger Woods, to earn more than $70m off the field in a single year while still actively competing.

It’s also believed he sold his stake in Proper 12 Irish Whiskey to Proximo Spirits for $600m.

Money is no problem for McGregor, but he’s had plenty inside the octagon in the past few years.

McGregor has only been victorious once in the UFC since he became double champion back in 2016.

Since then, the Dublin-born star has lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Poirier twice, with the quick win over Cerrone sandwiched in between.

McGregor remains confident he will return from the broken leg and he wants to face Poirier in a money-spinning fourth fight.

Their last two meets are in the top three most-bought UFC pay-per-views ever.
