It just had to happen.
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his first Manchester United goal, 12 years on from when he left the club.
It was one of the most simple goals he’ll ever score in his career, a tap-in from six yards.
Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman was unable to fully deal with Mason Greenwood’s deflected effort from the edge of the box and the ball fell to Ronaldo, who did the rest.
The goal gave Man United the lead on the stroke of half time but the visitors have offered a threat going forward, Joe Willock going close earlier in the first half.
But it looks like Ronaldo is going to be the star man yet again.
This is a breaking news story. More updates will follow shortly.
