Whilst Dwight McNeil may have a lot of talent, he has a long way to go in achieving as much as former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria.
With that being said, the Burnley winger’s father draws one specific comparison and that is the amount of tattoos both players have.
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, the Burnley winger spoke about the claimed similarities between him and the Paris Saint-Germain player.
“My dad makes a joke about it as well,” McNeil said. “He calls me Angel Di Maria because he’s got tattoos and I’ve just started to get my tattoos so he takes the mick.
“I think he is a wonderful player, special when he was back at Real Madrid. He’s got a left foot and I think he’s a great player.”
Despite a poor spell in his career at Manchester United, Di Maria has been a wonderful player for the majority of his career which has seen him play for the biggest clubs across Europe.
Having joined Man United in 2014 for a then British record fee of £59.7 million from Real Madrid, hopes were high for the Argentine especially after winning the Champions League a few months earlier.
Sadly for him and the Red Devils though he never showed his full potential and left for PSG the following summer.
There certainly wasn’t any love lost between the club and player either following an interview he gave where he claimed to not ‘give a f***’ about the Man United no.7 jersey.
The iconic shirt was worn by so many greats in the past and has since been re-taken by one of the club’s favourite sons, Cristiano Ronaldo.
