Eddie Hall has a new 6ft 10in sparring partner as he prepares for his clash with Hafthor Bjornsson in September.
The two former World’s Strongest Men will battle in Las Vegas to settle their differences in a fight dubbed ‘the heaviest boxing match in history’.
Hall has been ramping up his preparations for the bout and has dropped a serious amount of weight as he transforms his body ready for the boxing ring.
Bjornsson comes in at around 6ft 9in, so the British strongman has drafted in some help from a young boxer to get him ready.
In a video on YouTube, he revealed that 19-year-old Josh Middleton has joined ‘Team Beast’ full time.
Hall revealed the teenager has lofty aspirations to follow in the footsteps of world champions, like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
He said: “Josh has been helping with my sparring a lot recently. 6ft 10in and a half and 18st in bodyweight – so he’s a big lad.
“He’s been boxing since he’s 14, had a couple of fights and won everything he’s put his hand to.
“Predominantly he’s a right handed boxer, but he’s been helping me fight southpaw so he can switch, which is a hell of a skill being able to switch.
“Josh told me his aspirations of wanting to become the top in the world basically and for a 19-year-old that’s a big goal to have.
“He tells me in confidence, but I’m going to go and say it for him, I think with those genetics and a lot of willpower and nurture, he can go on to be world champion.”
The feud with ‘The Mountain’ from Game of Thrones started when Hall won the 2017 World’s Strongest Man as Bjornsson accused the Brit of cheating during the Viking Press.
However, video evidence uploaded to Hall’s YouTube channel appeared to dismiss the Icelander’s claims.
Thor, as he usually goes by, has been making preparations of his own and is taking part in exhibition fights to get himself ready for the ring.
He will take on British Commonwealth gold medallist Simon Vallily in May in Dubai, but it will be no easy test.
Vallily has promised to ‘test’ the chin of Thor during the three round bout.
