Canelo Alvarez is planning on going global with a UK fight high on his wish list, promoter Eddie Hearn has divulged.
His next target for September is to claim the final belt in the division – currently held by America’s Caleb Plant.
After this, in 2022, a world tour is seemingly on the cards.
Canelo is a free agent, but has expressed his desire to continue working with Hearn – who staged his last three fights – moving forwards.
The Matchroom promoter told Sky: “I think what we saw on Saturday is one of the biggest stars in global boxing.
“His plan now is to go and become undisputed – that’s a fight with Caleb Plant, which I think will happen in Las Vegas in September.
“And then from there he wants to go and box around the world.
“He’d love to fight in the UK, I think his popularity here is through the roof.
“He’s beaten, what? Seven UK fighters over the years.
“So he’d love to fight here, he said he’d love to fight in the Middle East, in the Far East and of course in Mexico in a huge show.
“I think you’re gonna see him box around the world.
“He told me that he wants to fight for seven more years, so you’re gonna be seeing a lot of Canelo Alvarez.”
In the aftermath of his defeat to Canelo, Saunders has undergone surgery on a triple fracture of his orbital bone.
The Mexican’s trainer Eddy Reynoso posted a message on Wednesday night: “On behalf of the entire team that make up the Canelo team, we wish you a speedy recovery and that you continue on in your wonderful champion career!! Blessings Billy Joe Saunders.”
