Ashley Young is undergoing a medical at Aston Villa after snubbing interest from Burnley, talkSPORT understands.
The 35-year-old is a free agent after leaving Inter Milan at the end of the 2020/21 season.
He looked poised to join Sean Dyche’s men earlier in the week following encouraging talks.
Villa, however, swiftly moved in and are set to land Young, who played for them from 2006-2011, making 190 appearances.
talkSPORT’s Jim White revealed on Twitter that Young’s medical is currently taking place and said it could run into Friday.
Young was happy with the terms on offer by Burnley, which included a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months, before Villa hijacked the deal.
He rejected the opportunity to remain with Serie A champions Inter, while it’s also claimed he turned down the chance to return to another former side in Watford.
