Exclusive: Henderson scored Gerrard-esque winner to secure Champions League victory in five-goal thriller, Rebic and Diaz gave visitors first half comeback before Salah equalised in second half

Liverpool started their Champions League campaign in spectacular fashion as Jordan Henderson’s Gerrard-esque goal secured a 3-2 win against AC Milan at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah equalised minutes into the second half after missing from the spot in the first.

The visitors scored two in quick succession for a first half comeback which cancelled out Fikayo Tomori’s own goal.

  • Liverpool failed to capitalise on an array of first-half chances and could have gone 2-0 up if Salah scored his penalty
  • Anfield were treated to a return of Champions League football with a five-goal thriller
  • The hosts had 13 shots in the first 15 minutes and were punished for not being clinical
  • Two quick goals from Antonio Rebic and Brahim Diaz shocked the Reds just before the half time whistle
