Manchester City are widely recognised as one of the best teams in the world – and Kevin De Bruyne one of the game’s finest players.

Pep Guardiola’s side, with the playmaker in the side have already lifted the Carabao Cup this season, are on the cusp of winning the Premier League and have booked a place in the Champions League final.

“They’re an incredible team. Honestly, from every position they are covered,” Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell told talkSPORT.

“You don’t need me to tell you guys, you see it every week as well. Some of the one-two passing, the speed of thought with those guys – they all look like they’re on the same channel.

“When they’re at it, it’s frightening what they can do.”

In De Bruyne, one of the world’s best midfielders, here is a man who has more than played his part in a potential treble-winning team.

The 29-year-old, despite suffering with injuries, has recorded 11 Premier League assists in 24 matches, putting him second behind Harry Kane and underlining the quality he possesses.

Cantwell and The Canaries have fond memories of facing De Bruyne and co. on home soil, producing a stunning display to beat the then defending champions 3-2 at Carrow Road in September 2019.

It was an altogether different story at the Etihad ten months later, though, as Cantwell recalled. De Bruyne scored twice in a 5-0 drubbing against an already relegated Norwich.

“I remember the away fixture which wasn’t that successful, it honestly felt like it was a FIFA game that he had put the difficulty to ‘easy’ on.

“That’s the best way I can describe it, he was doing exactly what he wanted to do.

“Honestly I don’t think there was anything anyone could have done that day, when a player like that has got those tools – I don’t think you can stop him when he’s going.”
