Man City ‘are getting another top striker’ this summer, according to a player who has recently left the club.
Pep Guardiola is in the market for a new centre forward following Sergio Aguero’s decision to leave on a free transfer.
Doubts still clearly remain about Gabriel Jesus as City have been linked with some of the top names in world football.
Guardiola has always played down the chances of the club signing a big name striker this summer, but that has not stopped the rumour mill going into overdrive.
“Listen, with these prices we are not going to sign any striker,” said the City boss back in April.
Erling Haaland was linked at the start of the summer and it appears as though Harry Kane is now their top target.
Reports suggest that City will offer one of four star players in a player-plus-cash deal, likely to be more than £100million.
Striker Lukas Nmecha was sold by City this summer to Wolfsburg for £11million in search of more game time.
He came through the club’s academy, but made just three senior appearances for the them.
When talking about his departure, Nmecha told German outlet Kicker: “I still had one year (left) of (my) contract.
“They’re getting another top striker, I don’t think my chances would have been very good there.”
