Whisper it quietly but this could be quite a good season for Arsenal.
The Gunners announced the signing of Ben White from Brighton, joining Albert Lokonga and Nuno Tavares as fellow new recruits.
White moved to London in a £50million and will wear the no.4 on his back.
Meanwhile, it’s understood they could get White’s England teammate Aaron Ramsdale, who will provide good competition for Bernd Leno in goal.
Further up the pitch they’ve been linked with some exciting stars with £70million-rated James Maddison a rumoured target.
They’ve also been linked with the dynamic Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, a player the great Lionel Messi is a huge fan of.
It is thought any deal for the Argentine could see right-back Hector Bellerin go the other way.
Arsenal haven’t played in the Champions League since 2017 but sign all these players and they’ve got a chance at mounting a real assault on the Premier League’s top four.
Ramsdale may have suffered relegation in his last two seasons with Bournemouth and Sheffield United but he comes with plenty of pedigree.
He earned a late call-up to the England squad for Euro 2020 and although the 23-year-old didn’t feature at the tournament, he has many years left ahead to make himself Three Lions no.1.
White was also part of Gareth Southgate’s squad but didn’t play. Also 23, it’s felt he’ll have plenty more opportunities to establish himself in the England defence.
Last term was White’s debut Premier League season but he settled in smoothly, picking up Brighton’s Player of the Year award.
In the defensive midfield roles you’ve got Belgian Lokonga playing alongside Thomas Partey. It gets very exciting further forward.
Maddison would naturally play in the no.10 role, with youngsters Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe playing either side of him.
And up top you’d have Martinez. There wouldn’t even be any room for club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang!
