Exclusive: The Director of Loki Will Not Return For Season 2

Kate Herron, the director of Loki season 2, has confirmed that she will not return for season 2. After Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios’ third Disney+ series invited Tom Hiddleston back as the god of mischief.

The six-episode first season was favourably received, following in the footsteps of WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but Loki’s ending fared better than its predecessors. This could be due to the fact that the show was not teasing a future film, but rather a second season.

Loki Season 2

Loki season 2 had been rumoured for a while, but Marvel Studios didn’t confirm the news until Loki’s post-credits sequence. “Loki will return in season 2,” a Time Variance Authority stamp declared, putting a novel spin on Marvel’s practise of confirming characters will return in new endeavors.

Tom Hiddleston has confirmed that he will return for the second season of the show, and other cast members such as Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatah-Raw, and Wunmi Mosaku are expected to return as well.

No Return of Kate

Director Kate Herron is one individual connected with Loki who will not return for season 2. The filmmaker directed all six episodes of Loki’s first season and remained active with the show throughout the COVID-19 pandemic’s lengthy production period. Herron confirmed to Deadline that her time with Loki is over and that she will not return for Season 2.

Here’s what Director Says

“I’m not coming back. I originally intended to be only on for this, and to be honest, season 2 wasn’t in the plans — that’s something I’m really looking forward to. I’m excited to watch it as a fan next season, but I just want to say that I’m proud of what we accomplished here and that I gave it my all. I’m working on several additional projects that I haven’t finished yet.”
