Exclusive: Tom Breese to make UFC return against Antonio Arroyo on June 5 after Fight Island thriller last time out

Tom Breese will make his return to the octagon on June 5 against Antonio Arroyo as he hopes to bounce back in 2021.

The Englishman was stopped on Fight Island back in January via arm triangle against Omari Akhmedov to halt some of the momentum building behind him.

Birmingham-native Breese won the ‘Performance of the Night’ award against KB Bhullar with a brilliant first-round KO in Abu Dhabi at the back end of 2020.

Although he could not finish this up with another win in the middleweight division, the 29-year-old has the opportunity to get a morale-boosting win which would see him propel up the rankings in the 185lbs division once again.

Arroyo (9-3) is also coming off the back of a defeat after losing a unanimous decision to Deron Winn back in December.

The Brazilian is likely to stand with Breese, which will play into the jiu-jitsu master’s hands after the recent improvements in his striking.

As well as the knockout against Bhullar last year, Breese told talkSPORT he has been working with Anthony Joshua’s coach in a bid to make him even more lethal with his hands.

“One of the coaches is Joby Clayton, he trains Anthony Joshua, the heavyweight champion,” he said.

“Training with him I’ve learned many things and I’ve gained an understanding in my striking and I’ve also been with a top class Greco Roman wrestling coach.”
